Make yourself a place you actually like being in.
There are surprisingly many ways to get in your own way.
Pushing yourself. Optimizing yourself. Meeting expectations. Putting up with things that stopped being right for you a long time ago.
Or being so busy somehow keeping yourself going that you barely notice how you are actually doing.
Sometimes it is worth taking a closer look.
What is actually happening here?
What of this really belongs to me?
What did I learn, adopt or need at some point?
And what of it do I still need today?
Understand before you change.
I am less interested in how a person should function.
I am interested in how they actually do.
Patterns do not emerge without a reason. Even things that get in our way today may once have served a purpose.
Understanding them does not mean approving of them, nor does it mean we have to keep them forever.
At first, it simply means having a little more choice again.
Not reacting automatically.
Not fighting everything.
Not believing everything your own mind is telling you.
But noticing what is happening – and deciding from there what makes sense next.
Back in the driver’s seat.
Being in the driver’s seat does not mean having life under control.
That would probably be a fairly hopeless project anyway.
It means being able to distinguish:
What can I change?
What can I not force?
What can I let go of?
What matters enough to me to stand up for it?
And perhaps, at some point, no longer merely knowing how to get through everyday life.
But finding yourself in it again.
Coaching can be part of that.
Sometimes it helps to have someone there with you.
Someone who listens, asks questions, can leave contradictions unresolved for a while and does not immediately show up with a ready-made answer.
For me, coaching is therefore not about changing someone according to a particular idea of who they should be. It can be a space in which connections become clearer, old answers can be questioned and new ones explored.
Not with the aim of becoming a better version of yourself.
But perhaps one you actually feel at home with again.
